"Bluegrass Cafe" Play List - 8/6/2006

I raced to the WHUS studio following Dale Ann Bradley's closing set at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in East Hartford, CT, Sunday afternoon just in time to do the Red Rooster Party with Marti followed by the Bluegrass Cafe. I played songs by many of the artists who had performed at Podunk. I also had taken advantage of my first-time job of "stage captain" (and Thursday MC) at Podunk to record station IDs by many of the top bluegrass artists in the business, and previewed many of those spots on this show. But the icing on the cake was having the world radio premier of Dale Ann Bradley's newest CD, "Catch Tomorrow." Marti and I actually closed Red Rooster with a celtic-influenced song from the new CD titled "When the Mist Comes Again," and then played five more cuts from the CD on Bluegrass Cafe including the driving murder-of-passion ballad, "Rita Mae," and the Chris Stuart tribute to John Hartford's steamboat, "Julia Belle." Dale Ann had literally received the first copies of this CD by FedEx at her hotel Saturday morning before her first performance, so that gave Bluegrass Cafe listeners an exclusive opportunity to be the first to hear it on the radio!
