"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 6/21/2026

Never quite finished my write-up for our Father's Day edition of Bluegrass Cafe on June 21st!  Oops!  Here were a couple of highlights:  sharing lots of music from the great Bluegrass Hall of Famer, Eddie Adcock (June 21, 1938 - March 20, 2025), who would have celebrated his 88th birthday on June 21st; listening to lots of tunes performed by the Bluegrass fathers along with their musical children, including folks with last names like Amos, Armistead, Cox, Harrell, McCoury, McGee, Mullins, Paisley, Parmley, Pike, White, and, of course, Monroe; listening to a few songs with themes of fathers and children; and, we belatedly remembered the June 19th birth anniversary of the great Lester Raymond Flatt (June 19, 1914 - May 11, 1979).

"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 6/14/2026

Here's the quick recap to our June 14th edition of Bluegrass Cafe:  in short, it was packed!  We enjoyed music from Wood Box Heroes - a band who is anchoring the Saturday night activities at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in Goshen, CT.  They'll be performing on Saturday, August 8th, so be sure to join them.  As WBH is a relatively new band that most of us know next-to-nothing about, we were able to have a telephone chat with Josh Martin -- the guitar playing songwriter for Wood Box Heroes.  We also shared several tunes from the band, so it'll be fun to see them in person in August.  

There was quite a bit of brand-new music to share with selections from Bronwyn, Dailey & Vincent, Justin Hiltner & Jon Weisberger, the Chris Davis Band, and the Del McCoury Band.

"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 5/31/2026

During our last Bluegrass Cafe program on May 31st, we started off in a "blue" frame of mind, but as the show progressed, we also found time to share newer music AND celebrate the birth anniversaries of two female members of the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, songwriter and Bluegrass champion, Dixie Hall (May 26, 1934 - January 16, 2015) and songwriter and performer Hazel Dickens (June 1, 1925 - April 22, 2011).  It is always a pleasure to feature dynamic females in the World of Bluegrass Music.

While we didn't have any brand-new music to share during our program, we still included recent recordings from several performers, including Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands, Southern Legacy, Isaak Atlas Schwartz, Jaelee Roberts, the Po' Ramblin' Boys, Dale Ann Bradley, Blue Highway, Jason Carter & Michael Cleveland, and Darin & Brooke Aldridge.  

Don't forget to join us for our first radio show of June, as we're planning to have a telephone chat with Eric Gibson of the Gibson Brothers.  As you've probably heard, the Gibsons will be returning to perform at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in Goshen, CT in early August.  Our Bluegrass Cafe airs from 4-7PM, and we're planning to get Eric on the phone at 5PM, so don't miss it!
