Marti joined me in the WHUS studio Sunday the 15th for an enjoyable afternoon of music centered around the many area performances over the last month at venues such as the TrueGrass Series at the Firebox, The Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival in East Hartford, and the Shady Creek Reunion in Plainfield, CT.
This included songs from the hard driving Larry Gillis, Connecticut favorites Shady Creek, Gail & Gordon Pike from Maine, The Earl Brothers from San Francisco, bluegrass pioneer Sam Tidwell, local guitarist Fred Etheridge, and Podunk featured performers such as young guitar genius Josh Williams, Williams & Clark Expedition (now The Expedition Show with Monroe banjoist Blake Williams), David Davis from Cullman, Alabama, Ricky Skaggs, Jesse Baker, Michael Cleveland, resophonic master Roger Williams, and Rhonda Vincent.
The Heritage Corner provided songs from Scotty Stoneman, The Foot Hill Boys (including Cullen Galyean), Reno & Smiley, Ted Lundy & Bob Paisley, the Stanley Brothers, and Mac Wiseman.
New music came from Ashleigh Caudill, Darrell Webb, and Gary Waldrep.
We also played a track from a fun reissue of a 1976 album from Roland White.
