During Sunday's Bluegrass Cafe (airing at a special time on both Sunday, March 7th and Sunday, March 14th -- 6-9PM instead of 4-7PM), we mentioned a few Bluegrass shows/events that are coming up and will be available for you to view online. Does this replace going to an in-person event? Nope. Is a livesteam show a very excellent substitute as we continue to work our way through these COVID days? Absolutely! Here's what you should know:
- Sunday, March 7th -- 8PM Eastern -- Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers
Free performance streamed at Southern Door Community Auditorium or via the band's Facebook page. - Saturday, March 27th - 4-9PM -- Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass (plus the Blades Of Grass, Acoustic Turnpike, Homestead, and Free Range)
Free show sponsored by Wilmington (Delaware) Bluegrass. Join them directly online (www.wilmingtonwintergrass.org) or via Facebook. - Saturday, March 27th - 1PM -- "Industrial Strength Bluegrass" CD release livestream event featuring four bands: Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, the Isaacs, and the Caleb Daugherty Band. The CD being released supports a new book of the same title edited by Fred Bartenstein and Curtis Ellison, and published in January 2021 by the University of Illinois Press. Ticket price is $14 (watchpulling.tv) or via Facebook.
In addition to these free shows, the always-popular Gibson Brothers are appearing at two ticketed events over the next few weeks.
- Friday, March 12th -- 8PM -- Emelin Theatre
Ticket and streaming info are here. Per the Gibsons' Facebook page, this will be a live concert from Leigh's house featuring Eric, Leigh, and Mike Barber
Looks like there will be another Gibson Brothers show (Gibson trio?) for Caffe Lena on April 11th. More info will follow.
In all likelihood, you will continue to see a lot of these virtual shows made available until things really open up again, so be sure to check out the shows when you can.
As a bonus, here's a link to a February 21st live Spinney Brothers show broadcast on Facebook: https://fb.watch/44OLe20t4j/
Enjoy!
