Here we are: five days away from Christmas! Are you ready? Chances are good that your holiday celebrations will be a bit toned down during this COVID year, but we still wanted to share loads of Christmas music with you during this Season of Joy, so hope you enjoyed it during the show! In the early days when I was doing radio (1988!), I had exactly one Bluegrass Christmas record to play, so I ended up making every Christmas show I did on the radio from that point on a mix of Bluegrass Christmas songs (there are MANY more to choose from now) and country Christmas songs -- things I heard at the house during the Christmas season when I was a kid, and favorites as I aged. This year, though, things are different. Of course, they are, right? It's 2020!! :) Our Bluegrass Cafe on this Sunday before Christmas includes 2+ hours of (mostly) Bluegrass Christmas tunes. The country Christmas songs can be heard at some point on the WHUS airwaves over the next few days, as I put together three separate one-hour broadcasts I've called, "Classic Country Christmas." If I figure out exactly when those shows are going to air, I will let you know with a post on our BG Cafe Facebook page.

during today's Bluegrass Cafe. I'll be honest: I had heard interview with Mr. Pride in which he said Bill Monroe had been one of his favorite singers when he was kid, but I wasn't really aware that Charley Pride had ever recorded any "bluegrass" music, It seems, though, that he recorded four songs with the Osborne Brothers back in 1967. Learn something new everyday, right? Thanks to longtime listener and friend, Dave Shaw, I was able to share Charley Pride's "bluegrass" songs, plus a few more of his big hit records, as Charley Pride's voice was one that demanded to be heard.
We also included a few favorites from 2020 from the likes of High Fidelity, the Feinberg Brothers, Junior Sisk, Rock Hearts, and a few others. We'll include more 2020 selections during our December 27th broadcast.
