The ground turned white on Sunday, and Marti and I were hoping we wouldn't have too much trouble getting to the studio. It actually turned out okay. We only felt like Popsicles.
The cold and snow made a good backdrop for some seasonal music, like Emmylou's "Roses In The Snow" and some original and classic winter and Christmas tunes from Anne & Pete Sibley -- Connecticut natives now making their home out west. We also heard a great Christmas song from Nick Anderson and the Gospel Friends -- an excellent Connecticut band configuration from a couple of years ago.
While not related to the season, we picked a great solo album from our personal archives by Jack Lawrence (Doc Watson's long-time picking partner) and played a couple from that project.
You kept the phones busy, and we love that. In the Christmas spirit, we gave away four more CDs which the Bluegrass Cafe crew will continue doing through Christmas.
We even checked out new WHUS DJ "Phil" during this show, and Phil now has a greater appreciation for the Bluegrass Music as a result of his exposure to the Cafe.
