While we had competition from the Patriots' playoff game during Sunday's show, we still managed to play some mighty fine music. Going along with Jim's quest to play more music from our local performers, we included several tunes from a good number of them (Acoustic Blue, Dan Helman & Marking Time, Old Time BG Singers, Bristol Boys, ShoreGrass, GrassRoutes, Amy Gallatin & Roger Williams), as well as new music from folks like Tim Hensley and Gary Ferguson (his CD was recorded live at the Podunk BG Festival in East Hartford).
There's a lot of great Bluegrass releases in store for 2008, too, and we got to preview a couple of them, including forthcoming projects by Blue Highway and Dan Paisley & the Southern Grass (both to be released on Rounder), as well as the ever-popular Gibson Brothers (new CD to be released on Sugar Hill on April 8th).
The Grammy Award nominees in the category of Best Bluegrass Album were featured a bit, too. The award ceremony is scheduled for February 10th, and the Bluegrass nominees are great ones: Cherryholmes, J.D. Crowe & the New South, Jim Lauderdale, the Seldom Scene, and Tony Trischka.
