"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 4/8/2007

Sunday's Easter edition of the BG Cafe featured (as one might expect) a host of Easter-themed tunes. We also took a few minutes to pay tribute to a Country Music Hall of Famer who celebrated his 80th birthday on March 15th - Carl Smith. No, Carl isn't a BG performer, by any means, but like a good many of his country compadres from the 1950s, his tunes have been covered in the bluegrass world plenty of times. Why not celebrate his birthday? We've marked his tribute tunes in orange. And since I've been watching those recently released DVDs from the old "Flatt & Scruggs Grand Ole Opry Show" quite a bit, we just had to listen to some of their classic bluegrass. (By the way, if you've not yet seen these DVDs, you really must). While the phone lines were relatively quiet -- folks must have been busy visiting the relatives or eating those great hams and jelly beans and all -- we did receive a few requests (noted in blue). Jim and Marti have Cafe duties next Sunday, 4/15 -- do join them. Hope you all had a most joyous Easter.
