"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 10/1/2023

Before our next edition of Bluegrass Cafe airs tomorrow (4-7PM), it 's high time to get the playlist posted from our October 1st edition of this program!  We shared music from several of the big winners of IBMA Awards on September 28th, including Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Special Consensus, Greg Blake, Jason Carter, Authentic Unlimited, and Entertainer of the Year, Billy Strings).  We also included a couple of songs each from the three new members of the Bluegrass Hall of Fame:  Wilma Lee Cooper, Sam Bush, and David Grisman.  

We also took a few moments to remember the delightful Mark Wayne Kitchin ~ someone who was not only a noted country music DJ in eastern Connecticut for 30+ years, but also a Bluegrass bass player who made a record in the mid-1960s with some friends:  Fred Pike, Bill Rawlings & the Twin River Boys.  In addition, he also played a bit with Shady Creek in the 1990s. On a personal note, Mark was a radio mentor of mine for several years, and an all-around good guy who will be greatly missed.  Read his obituary here.  Rest in peace, Mark.
