"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 2/27/2022

In the days before COVID, it seemed like WHUS used to air every single UConn Basketball game that was played, but today, things are not the same.  While we may not experience sports-shortened radio broadcasts so much these days, we still have to deal with the traffic and parking issues that occur on game days when the basketball teams are playing on campus.  Today was one of those days, but COVID has actually provided us with a "fix," of sorts:  we can give recorded shows an "encore" appearance once in a while.  For this day's Bluegrass Cafe, we were both recorded and live:  the first hour was a broadcast first aired on February 28, 2021, and the second two hours were "warts and all" live broadcasts from WHUS.  Hope you enjoyed this "hybrid."

During the show, we celebrated birth anniversaries of two wonderful, very original performers: Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson (March 3, 1923 - May 29, 2012) and John Duffey (March 4, 1934 - December 9, 1997).  There's no better way to celebrate a musician than by sharing his music, and so, we did.  And we could have celebrated a lot more, too, but we'll save that for another Sunday.

New music hit our airwaves today, as well, with brand-new music from the Po' Ramblin' Boys, Rick Lang's new stories-in-song collection, Unlimited Tradition, the Lonesome River Band, Kristy Cox, and Cedar Hill.

Hope you were able to join us, but if not, you'll have another chance in one week.  See you on March 7th!

Have a good week!

Amy O.
