Hard to believe, but we've already reached Labor Day weekend. Where did the summer go? It seems in eastern CT, we had either days of monsoon-type rains or days of high humidity this summer. Still, our Labor Day Sunday edition of the Bluegrass Cafe -- the 71st of our COVID-era, recorded-at-home shows -- began with several songs about laboring -- perfectly appropriate for this day.
In addition to music celebrating labor, we belatedly celebrated the birth anniversary of the Queen of Country Music, Kitty Wells (August 30, 1919 - July 16, 2012). Kitty Wells was not a voice of Bluegrass music, but like many of her classic country contemporaries, her music has been covered in the world of Bluegrass.
There was a tiny bit of newer music to share this week, too, with brand new selections from forthcoming CDs from Bela Fleck's My Bluegrass Heart and Kristy Cox, as well as newer music from Jeremy Stephens, Jesse Brock, Rock Hearts, Still Pickin', Tina Adair, the Alex Leach Band, Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers, the Lonesome River Band, and the Industrial Strength Bluegrass collection.
