During our second back-to-the-studio Bluegrass Cafe, we paid tribute to not one but two members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, shared a healthy portion of new music, and included a whole lot of favorites, too. Hope you were able to join us!
The two members of the Hall of Fame were -- and still are -- probably considered to be the top two male country singers of all time. Though neither were ever "Bluegrass singers," their material certainly has been covered in the World of Bluegrass over the years. Who are these singers? Well, none other than George Jones (September 12, 1931 - April 26, 2013) and Hank Williams (September 17, 1923 - January 1, 1953). Wonderful music.
We had a little bit of brand new music to share this week, too, with never-before-heard-on-our-program songs from Junior Sisk, Irene Kelley, Shannon Slaughter, and Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road. We also shared a good bit of music from recordings we've received over the last year, and were trying to find shelf space for at WHUS today. Those performers were Darin & Brooke Aldridge, Ronnie Bowman, David Peterson & 1946, Tina Adair, the Larry Stephenson Band, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Jesse Brock, Amanda Cook, Merle Monroe, Balsam Range, Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass, the King James Boys, and Jeremy Stephens.
Hope you have a wonderful week. We'll be looking for you next Sunday for another edition of our Bluegrass Cafe!
