Sunday turned out to be a snowy day in eastern Connecticut, so it was fortunate that our show was recorded earlier in the week, and there was no need for a trip to the WHUS studio.
It was another super week for Bluegrass (and Bluegrass-friendly) birthdays. We paid tribute to several folks with February birthdays, including the late Wilma Lee Cooper (who would have turned 100 years old on February 7th), Donna Stoneman, Red Allen, Charlie Moore, Jim McReynolds, and David McLaughlin.
We also remembered the birthday of a multiple-Hall of Fame songwriter, Boudleaux Bryant. Neither Bryant nor his wife, Felice, were Bluegrass performers, but if for no other reason, they will always be important to Bluegrass, as they were the songwriters of an Osborne Brothers' standard, "Rocky Top."
