During our Bluegrass Cafe on Sunday afternoon, we celebrated in song five Country Music Hall of Fame members born in the month of August: Porter Wagoner (born August 12, 1927) and Buck Owens (born August 12, 1929), as well as Webb Pierce (August 8, 1921), Mel Tillis (August 8, 1931) and Connie Smith (August 14, 1941). Lots of wonderful music written and/or originally performed by these folks has been recorded in the Bluegrass World so we enjoyed several covers in celebration of these many birthdays.The big 21st edition of the Podunk Bluegrass Festival was held this past weekend in Hebron, and while the weather wasn't perfect, the music was extremely good. We heard a few tunes from some of the performers who were there, including Flashback, Dale Ann Bradley, Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show, Balsam Range, and the Virginia Ramblers.
