So long, Sam Tidwell...

On today's Bluegrass Cafe, one of our planned features is a tribute to a New England Bluegrass legend, the one and only Sam Tidwell.  As you may know, Sam died earlier this week at his Rhode Island home after battling cancer for the last several years.  In a musical career spanning more than 50 years, Sam was able to accomplish A LOT, and we'll touch upon a good bit of that this afternoon.  Of course, there will be music from Sam and his longtime partner, Fred Pike, and their Kennebec Valley Boys, as well as a tune or two from Sam's earliest BG band, the Tidwell Brothers & the Cedar Mountain Boys.  Expect to hear a few of Sam's stories in the mix, too.

Hope you can join us in the Bluegrass Cafe at WHUS this afternoon from 4:00-7:00PM Eastern.  If you're in southern New England, you can find us at 91.7 on the FM dial.  Our broadcast streams on the Internet, as well:  http://www.whus.org/
