(BTW, Joe will be away next Sunday, 1/31, so once again, Jim will have an opportunity to play FIVE hours of Bluegrass on the airwaves for you next Sunday. Somehow, I don't think he'll have any big problems filling the time with some mighty fine music).
As Jim told you last week, the great country singer and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Carl Smith, died on Saturday, January 16th, so we made sure to feature a couple of his tunes done in the BG style. We also played a set of tunes written by Dolly Parton, another Hall of Famer who celebrated her birthday this past Tuesday (born January 19, 1946). Yes, there is a distinction between playing country music and BG music, but sometimes, the lines can become very, very blurry.
In addition, we played a pair of tunes from the fine new Larry Stephenson recording on Pinecastle Records ("20th Anniversary"), as well as newer music from Bill Emerson & Sweet Dixie, the Patuxent Partners, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, Jessie Baker, and Josh Williams.
Be sure to join Jim next Sunday for those five big hours of BG Cafe, and if you're at all interested in some classic country sounds, please join me for the next three Tuesdays from 1-3PM as I get to do a few afternoon fill-ins before the next schedule change.
