Bluegrass Cafe had another five-hour show last Sunday thanks to the UCONN break, and I used the opportunity to bring in some music not often played on the show. Apparently it struck a nerve because I got quite a number of calls expressing thanks for the programming -- only a handful with their own requests. Now, if only I could develop a scientific way to predict that response...!

tro-group Carolina Native Sons featuring the late Clarence Greene. Mandolin picker Joseph Scott, one of the band members, told me that the CDs had been in their hands only two days when Clarence passed away. This CD -- "Rank Ol' Bluegrass" -- is a part of an incredible and influential legacy Clarence leaves behind.
From the Heritage Corner vaults, I picked some classic tracks for the show from Mac Martin, Mac Wiseman, The Lilly Brothers & Don Stover, The Osborne Brothers with Red Allen, Joe Val, The Good Ol' Persons featuring a very young Laurie Lewis, Ralph Stanley, and Wade Mainer.
