We remembered: some of the Bluegrass contributions of James Monroe (March 15, 1941 - June 24, 2026) and Bluegrass Hall of Fame member Donna Stoneman (February 7, 1934 - June 28, 2026), as well as the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg in song (battle was fought July 1-3, 1865).
We celebrated: the 250th birthday of the United States of America; birthdays of the "Uncle of Bluegrass," Charlie Monroe (July 4, 1903 - September 27, 1975)
and Bluegrass Hall of Famer, Peter Rowan (born July 4, 1943). We also celebrated the 80th birthday of the great Jimmy Gaudreau (born July 3, 1946), easily the most important contributor to Bluegrass Music from the State of Rhode Island...and so much more than just that!
Sure hope you were able to join us for this week's radio visit.
Don't forget to join us for our Bluegrass Cafe next Sunday, as we're going to be visiting with the authors of a top-notch new book all about Buzz Busby. Join us on July 12th for our telephone chat with Kip Lornell and Tom Mindte who'll tell us about their book called Buzz Busby: Father Of Washington DC Bluegrass. It should be fun, so mark your calendars and join us.
Have a good week!
Amy O.
