"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 11/1/2026

On the last Sunday of October, there was not a live presentation of our Bluegrass Cafe for two reasons:  number one reason is that there was a UConn Basketball broadcast on our WHUS airwaves on October 25th.  (The second reason is that I was still on my back home from a couple of days away from Connecticut).  Anyhow, since our November 1st broadcast was the show that aired closest to Halloween, we couldn't NOT populate a good portion of our broadcast with Bluegrass songs about ghostly passengers, mysterious lights, and cold, icy fingers.  Hope you enjoyed our two sets our scary songs!

There has been another sad loss in the world of Bluegrass this past week.  Bluegrass Ambassador (and member of the BG Hall of Fame since 2008) Bill Clifton passed on October 30th at the age of 95.  Born William August Marburg, Bill Clifton was a great cheerleader and supporter of the Carter Family, and while he wasn't raised in a rural environment, he surrounded himself with musicians who were.  He also spent many years living in England, and it was there that he became an amazing ambassador spreading the music he loved to residents of other countries and lands.  We remembered this sometimes-overlooked Hall of Fame member with several songs featuring his strong, pleasant voice.  Rest in peace, Bill Clifton.

A little bit of newer music found its way into the show, as well, with new selections from Jason Carter & Michael Cleveland, High Fidelity, the Sullivan Sisters, Junior Sisk, Rhonda Vincent, and Balsam Range.  We also shared the recent release from Authentic Unlimite
d
, who recently won their 4th consecutive Vocal Group of the Year honor at the International Bluegrass Music Awards (IBMA) Awards.  Congratulations to them, as well as to the other recent IBMA Award winners whose music was shared on Sunday, including East Nash Grass, Blue Highway, and 5-time Entertainer of the Year, Billy Strings.

Hope you can join us once again this coming Sunday afternoon from 4-7PM for another edition of our Bluegrass Cafe.

Have a good week!

Amy O.
