"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 4/19/2026

During Sunday's Bluegrass Cafe, we shared new music, looked back at some popular songs of 30 years ago, and celebrated both Earth Day and the birthday of a Bluegrass Hall of Famer.  It was a certainly a full three-hour program, so hope you were able to join us.

New music came from a young banjo player named Izaak Atlas Schwartz and the trio of Shelton & Williams.  We also included newer music from the Po' Ramblin' Boys and Southern Legacy.

We shared several tunes from the great Bluegrass Hall of Famer, Doyle Lawson, who celebrated his 82nd birthday on April 20th.

And, for something different, we put a small spotlight on nine songs from the Top 30 songs featured in the National Bluegrass Survey as published in the February 1996 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited.  Among the performers who were on the charts that month was a very new band who had three songs on the chart, including the top song and top album, Blue Highway.  Other songs we featured were performed by the Laurel Canyon Ramblers, Gary Ferguson, Lynn Morris, Claire Lynch, Laurie Lewis & Tom Rozum, Byron Berline with Vince Gill, IIIrd Tyme Out, and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.  We'll plan to feature a look back at other National Bluegrass Survey songs in future editions of our Bluegrass Cafe.
