"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 8/25/2019

Have you ever heard Porter's 1964 recording, "The Blue Grass Story?"
I haven't, but must say I am intrigued...
A good bit of Sunday's Bluegrass Cafe was inspired by something I saw on Facebook this morning:  coming up in September, there will be a big estate sale of items owned by Porter Wagoner and his son, Richard.  (If you are curious to view photos of items to be sold during this estate sale, click here).  Seeing this posting reminded me that Porter Wagoner -- a Country Music Hall of Famer who served as a fine ambassador of the Grand Ole Opry in the years following the death of Roy Acuff -- was also a fan of Bluegrass music, and several Bluegrass versions of Porter Wagoner tunes exist.  As Porter Wagoner was born on August 12, 1927 -- and it's still August -- we figured that was a good-enough excuse to celebrate Porter during the show...and so, we did.

In addition to Porter, we heard a combination of classic Bluegrass, as well as a bit of 2019 music from the likes of Big Country Bluegrass, Gena Britt, Blue Highway, Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers, and the gospel collection written by New Hampshire songwriter, Rick Lang.

Hope you have a wonderful last "unofficial" week of Summer!

Be sure to join us once again next Sunday afternoon, 4-7PM.
