"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 4/9/2017

For Sunday's edition of the Bluegrass Cafe, something inspired me to play a whole bunch of wonderful songs all about one subject that continues to fascinate young and old alike:  trains.  Even though Americans (who don't live in big metropolitan areas) don't really travel on trains as frequently as we did sixty or seventy years ago, the interest in this particular mode of transportation lives on.  In 2015, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out released a song that suggested a lot of things might not have ever happened "Had It Not Been For The Train."  If you've not heard the clever lyrics in this song (co-written by Eli Johnston and Kevin McKinnon), check it out here:

Carrying on the tradition:  Ralph Stanley II &
the Clinch Mountain Boys will have a CD
available this summer

The show wasn't all about those 30+ train songs, though.  We also included a few brand-new selections from recently released or soon-to-be released recordings from these performers:  Ralph Stanley II & the Clinch Mountain Boys, Tim O'Brien, Shawn Camp (from the wonderful autobiography-in-song recording about Mac Wiseman), Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, Danny Barnes, Rickey Wasson, Aaron "Frosty" Foster, Larry Cordle, and Flashback.

This coming Sunday is Easter Sunday, and I'm delighted that Jim will be joining you for Bluegrass Cafe.  Be sure to join him for some top-notch traditional and old-time Bluegrass, won't you?

Happy Easter!

Amy
