In addition to playing music from a few of the performers featured at Podunk over the weekend, we included a couple of tunes from forthcoming projects by Larry Stephenson, as well as Darren Beachley (both cuts found on Volume 100 of the "Prime Cuts Of Bluegrass"), and music from a California band who concentrates on traditional Bluegrass: Blue & Lonesome.
We also included music from the one and only Neon Valley Boys recording. The Neons were a Rhode Island Bluegrass group in the early 1980s who made just one album, but the members have performed at "reunion" shows from time to time over the past few years, and so, they decided to have that one album remastered and packaged as a CD. Jeffrey Horton, the bass player with the Neons, and later a member of the group Northern Lights, was teaching a harmony workshop at Podunk, and gave me a copy of the remastered CD. Very, very fun music, and certainly as enjoyable in 2009 as it was in 1982 (!) when it was recorded.
