Well, Jim has suggested that I would add some photos from the Firebox show yesterday by Nick & Dick & the Rank Stranglers, so I guess I shall. This was my first visit to the Firebox, and I got to see a dandy show filled with the music of the Stanley Brothers. Thanks to these talented musicians for a fine evening, and be sure to visit the Firebox on Sunday nights to see and hear some great BG music when you can. (Of course, we'd also appreciate it if you'd keep your radio tuned to WHUS and the "Bluegrass Cafe" on your way driving to the Firebox)...
Here are some photos from Sunday's show:
Dick Bowden & Nick Novia
Dick Bowden, "Big Jim" Hammond, Nick Novia
Dick Bowden, "Fiddlin' Shaw" (Dave Shaw), "Bertie Sue" (Dick's sister, Bobbi Bowden)
Our radio buddy, Dave Helman -- host of "Country Corner" on WTCC (Saturdays, 1-3PM on 90.7 FM, Springfield, MA)
In addition to fine Bluegrass music at the Firebox on Sunday, I got to see and hear some great tunes from Connecticut's Grass Routes [performing at the Andover Gazebo in a show sponsored by the Friends of the Andover (CT) Library] on Friday night, and on Saturday, I journeyed to the lovely Berkshire hamlet of Peru, MA for some always-enjoyable music from the Bear Bridge Band (a/k/a "Bear Maximum") and their offshoot duet, Bear Minimum.
Grass Routes performs at the Andover Gazebo in Andover, CT -- 8/17/2009
The Bear Bridge Band (Dave Shaw, Dave Orlomoski, Robert Fraker, Lillian Fraker) at the Peru Car Cruise-In in Peru, MA -- 8/15/2009
Bear Minimum (or, the two Daves of Bear Bridge -- the one on the left is my brother and the one on the right might as well be)
