"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 2/17/2008

While Jim, Marti, and a whole lot of other folks were enjoying the live BG happenings at the Joe Val Festival this past weekend, I got to "mind the store," as it were, playing two hours of classic country tunes from 2-4PM during Jim & Marti's Red Rooster Party, followed by three big hours of the BG during Bluegrass Cafe. Perhaps you got to tune in a bit on your way home from Framingham? If you attended Joe Val this year, feel free to post a comment here and let us know what you thought. Who was your favorite (or even least favorite) band?

As for me, a bit of a family medical emergency only allowed me to see one band at Joe Val, but it was a very good one: Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper. Watching those guys play music together is a joy, no doubt about it.

On the Cafe, we featured a few BG covers of tunes written by Whisperin' Bill Anderson. There was no special reason for this -- it just seemed like a good time to honor one of country music's greatest songwriters. We also included a bit of Tom T. Hall, who was announced this past week as one of the 2008 inductees in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Check out the Cafe next Sunday -- Jim & Marti will be with you.
