"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 8/19/2007

As usual, Sunday's show went by in a whirlwind, and was a whole lot of fun (for me, anyway). We paid tribute to yet another country legend whose material has been covered numerous times in the Bluegrass world, Buck Owens (born August 12, 1929). We even included a track from Buck's 1971 Bluegrass album, Ruby & Other Bluegrass Specials. Granted, Buck's version of Bluegrass sounded nothing like Bill Monroe, but the effort seemed sincere enough, and the record was another #1 for Buck & the Buckaroos.

We also included a couple of tunes from some legendary characters from the New England Bluegrass world, Fred Pike, Sam Tidwell, & the Kennebec Valley Boys. Sam celebrated a birthday last week, as well.

Jim & Marti should be back in the Cafe with you next Sunday, and I'll be seeing you again in a couple of weeks.
