"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 12/3/2006

Sunday's BG Cafe was a mostly not-preempted show (we missed about 5 minutes to UCONN Men's Basketball). We listened to a bit of new music from the new Circuit Riders CD, as well as a "missing" project from Helen, June, & Anita Carter that was recorded in 1991, but never released until recently. We included about 30 minutes of bluegrass standards from the pen of the late Carter Stanley (who died on December 1, 1966) -- lots of tunes from both Carter & Ralph, as well as other folks who've recorded Carter's songs through the years. Believe me, this was just a very small sampling, as we could easily fill several shows with various performers' versions of Carter Stanley tunes. In addition, we gave away copies of the last two CDs by David Peterson & 1946 (The Howling Blue Winds & In The Mountaintops To Roam), and heard lots of nice comments from listeners about Dave's in-studio visit with Jim and I on November 26th. All in all, 'twas a busy show. Jim and Marti will be in the BG Cafe for the next two Sundays -- I'll be back on Christmas Eve playing lots of those bluegrass Christmas tunes. (If memory serves, I may be filling in for the Red Rooster Party on December 24th, as well -- I'll get my Buck Owens Christmas CDs ready....)
