Dave Helman (seen here at his home studio) begins his 2006-2007 Country Corner Coffee House series on Saturday evening, October 21st with a big show by New York's James Reams & the Barnstormers. This series has been held since 1990 at the South Hadley Falls Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, 11 North Main Street, South Hadley, MA, and through the years, has featured lots of regional and national Bluegrass greats, including shows by the likes of Dry Branch Fire Squad, Karl Shiflett & the Big Country Show, the Gibson Brothers, the Traditional Grass, the Bluegrass Patriots, the Gary Ferguson Band, TrueGrass, Traver Hollow, Southern Rail, Bear Bridge, and many, many more. Shows are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month, October-April (no show in December -- 2 shows in March), and are a great way for folks in southern New England to get through the "non" festival season.
Here's what Dave has in store for this season's Country Corner series:
- October 21st -- James Reams & the Barnstormers
- November 18th -- David Davis & the Warrior River Boys
- January 20th -- Acoustic Blue
- February 24th -- The Bear Bridge Band
- March 17th -- The Old Time Bluegrass Singers
- Sunday, March 25th -- Southern Rail (a special gospel show from 2-4PM, preceded by a spaghetti luncheon at 1PM)
- April 21st -- TBA [but we'll list it here as soon as we know]
All concerts start at 8PM (except for the March 25th show). The Country Corner Coffee House is smoke- and alcohol-free and is wheelchair accessible. Tickets are sold at the door only. For more information, contact Dave at Pioneer Valley Friends of Bluegrass, PO Box 161, South Hadley MA 01075, email info@countrycornermusic.com, or call (413)467-9394. We'll see you at some of these shows, I'm sure!
