"Bluegrass Cafe" Playlist - 9/15/2013 - More Old Vinyl

Hi Folks.

I was back in the saddle at Bluegrass Cafe after being in the saddle at Red Rooster Party with Marti for the summer.  I made it challenging by bringing in a big load of rare vinyl that I almost got half-way through.

The reach back for this show was intended not only to get grounded and focused on real bluegrass again, but also to feature some fine regional bands from outside of New England that are making some excellent music that deserves to be heard. This included music from Alex Leach -- a Tennessee DJ who is currently Ralph Stanley II's banjo picker -- and Larry Efaw from Ohio.

We also briefly celebrated the birthdays of Bill Monroe (9/13), Bill Harrell (9/15), and Roy Acuff (9/15) with related songs -- the latter covers from The Old Time Bluegrass Singers and The Tennessee Mafia Jug Band.

Amy and I will both be away for the next two Sundays, between which we will be in Raleigh for the IBMA festivities, so you can look forward to James and Cathy Ward hosting Bluegrass Cafe for the next two weeks.  Amy should be back October 6th.
