"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 5/25/2008

Sunday's show featured the second of our seven Guest DJs at BG Cafe -- Clyde Proch. If you've attended a BG festival in New England over the past 15-20 years, it's pretty likely that you've seen Clyde, as he devotes a good many hours promoting and enjoying Bluegrass. He did an excellent job with his Guest DJ stint -- in fact, he did so well that the phones practically never stopped ringing! Clyde's tunes are marked on the list below in blue. Thanks, Clyde, for your pledge to WHUS during Radiothon, and we look forward to hearing the fine work of our remaining 5 Guest DJs this summer....

In addition to Clyde's hour of tunes, we spent a bit of time on Sunday honoring veterans for Memorial Day. We also got to give away a pair of passes to the big Strawberry Park Bluegrass Festival this coming weekend, as well as a couple of BG CDs from Balsam Range and David Johnson. New music was included a bit, as well, as we played one tune each from the new discs by Canada's Spinney Brothers (their self-released Going Home) and the teenage mandolin picker, Sierra Hull (Secrets on Rounder). Be listening for more from these terrific CDs, as well as several others we've been getting at WHUS over the past couple of weeks.

Incidentally, if you're heading to Strawberry Park this weekend, do be on the lookout for our own Jim Beaver as one of your MCs....
