As we do on occasion, for this past Sunday's Bluegrass Cafe, we chose to spend a little bit of time spotlighting performers whose surname or band name begins with a certain letter of the alphabet. For no particular reason, this week's spotlight letter was an "S." To that end, we included 20+ songs from several "S" performers, including Larry Sparks, Shannon Slaughter, Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike, Special Consensus, Sister Sadie, the Larry Stephenson Band, Seldom Scene, the Spinney Brothers, and quite a few more.
We also celebrated a couple of Bluegrass birthdays, including that of the late Hall of Fame fiddler Kenny Baker (June 26, 1926 - July 8, 2011). We also belatedly celebrated the birthday of another super-innovative banjo picker and Bluegrass Hall of Famer, Eddie Adcock (born June 21, 1938).
And we remembered James Reams, a musician who was a wonderful ambassador for Bluegrass both in the northeast and the southwest.
Hope you were able to join us on Sunday, but if not, you've got another chance coming up this Sunday from 4-7PM. See you then.
Enjoy the week!
