The show that precedes Bluegrass Cafe -- Red Rooster Party -- was completely preempted by sports, so the beginning of Bluegrass Cafe hosted the great half-hour program of Joe Bussard's Country Classics which normally airs on Red Rooster Party. Joe had prepared a Memorial Day show that complemented the bluegrass that followed quite well.
We included songs all through the show related to the Memorial Day with notables by The South Carolina Broadcasters, The Lilly Brothers & Don Stover, Charlie Moore, The Stanley Brothers, Dry Branch Fire Squad, J. E. Mainer's Mountaineers, Larry Sparks, Tom T. Hall, Reno & Smiley, and The Gibson Brothers.
We introduced new music from Bryan Sutton who will be appearing in Hamden and at Strawberry Park this coming week. We also heard new music from The Lonely Heartstring Band which will also be appearing at Strawberry Park.
Be sure to tune in next Sunday when Amy will make the banjos and fiddles ring. I'll see you at Strawberry Park. For more information about Strawberry Park, click here.
