"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 3/8/2009

We capped off a most-excellent weather weekend in eastern CT -- temperatures in the 60s! -- with three hours of the best in Bluegrass. Hope you enjoyed something you heard somewhere along the way...

If you had a chance to listen to the show, I'm sure you heard that Radiothon is fast approaching at WHUS. The official dates of Radiothon are Saturday, March 14th through Sunday, March 22nd. So....that means we'll have at least one chance (and possibly two, depending on how well the Men's & Women's Basketball teams do in their various tournaments) to make some money to support the programming at WHUS. Last year, the Bluegrass programming at WHUS became the #1 listener-supported music show, and while we would absolutely LOVE to retain that "title," we realize that with the state of the economy, we just can't be overly confident. If you can help us out by supporting the BG Cafe (and, in turn, WHUS) during Radiothon, we will be extremely grateful. A bonus is that we've been accumulating some dandy Bluegrass CDs to offer as thank-you gifts for your pledge (in addition to our usual WHUS shirts, coffee cups, etc., etc.). In our playlist below, we've highlighted just a few of those CDs we'll have for premiums in GREEN.

On Sunday, we also put a few folks in the spotlight who either celebrated or would have celebrated a birthday over the past two weeks, including Doug Dillard, Rickie Simpkins, Marshall Wilborn, Bob Paisley, John Duffey, and Doc Watson.

We hope you'll consider making a pledge to WHUS next week during Radiothon, but if not, please tune in, anyway! Thanks!

Amy
