"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 3/27/2011 RADIOTHON WEEK #2

Radiothon 2011 is now history at WHUS, and I'm happy to report that once again, our awesome listeners helped us reach our two-week $3,000 goal. Hooray! I'm not 100% sure why folks seem to respond so well to the BG Cafe each year, but clearly, there's something very appealing about the BG music, and we certainly can't argue with that. Thanks to each of you who picked up the phone and made a pledge to support the show -- and by extension, WHUS -- over the past two weeks. We're certainly glad to know you're enjoying the show!

This year, we were able to offer lots of great thank-you gifts to folks who pledged to support BG Cafe. In addition to offering the newest recordings from the likes of Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Charlie Sizemore, the Gibson Brothers, and others, we also had some great CDs from the Boxcars, Edgar Loudermilk, Balsam Range, the Rick Lang gospel recording, and a whole bunch more. Big thanks to Compass Records, Crossroads/Mountain Home, Mountain Fever Records, Mountain Roads Recordings, Patuxent Music, Rounder, Rural Rhythm, and Sugar Hill, as well as performers David Peterson and the Spinney Brothers. In addition, we had a few tickets and passes to local events to offer as thank-you gifts donated to us by the Podunk Bluegrass Festival, Chris Wuerth of GuitarTownCT Productions, and the Canterbury Historical Society.

Finally, special thanks to our great and helpful phone operators this year: the ever-dependable (and always enthusiastic) Clyde Proch & Scott Farrar, as well as my mother, Eleanor Orlomoski. We were happy to have WHUS staff members, James & Cathy Ward, around for Radiothon, as well, and longtime WHUS "Off The Beaten Track" show host, Dan Grieder, was a tremendous help, too.

I'll join you once more this coming Sunday beginning at 4PM, and I can assure you that you'll be hearing LOTS of great BG music (and hearing very little talk). Thanks again!

Amy
