I'm pleased to announce that the 21st Joe Val Bluegrass Festival received the International Bluegrass Music Association's 2006 Event of the Year at an award ceremony held today at the Association's annual convention in Nashville, TN.

The festival, held this past February 17 - 19, 2006 at the Sheraton Framingham in Framingham, MA is a presentation of the Boston Bluegrass Union and was part of the BBU's 30th concert season. Further details on the festival are available from and on the IBMA Awards at

On behalf of the BBU I'd like to express my sincere appreciation to the artists, educators, patrons and BBU staff for making this event a success. It's an honor to win the award and continue to honor the legacy of the late Joe Val.
