Sunday's show featured a few songs from the great Joe Val, the Massachusetts-born mandolin-playing soaring tenor singer who would have celebrated his 91st birthday on June 26th. What better way to remember Joe than to share some of his music?
We also included a few songs from several performers who appeared at the Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival in Tunbridge, Vermont, which took place from June 22 through June 25. What a great festival! The songs we heard came to us from several Jenny Brook performers, including Rickey Wasson, the Gibson Brothers, Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show, Sideline, the Seth Sawyer Band, and David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition.
Another performer at Jenny Brook that I didn't get to see was the delightful David Davis & the Warrior River Boys. This band was a performing fixture in New England for many years, even though they often had to travel north in a van from Cullman, Alabama. The most recent recording of DD&WRB features loads of live recordings of performances that took place between 1984 and 2014.
