This show saw the debut of some new music from Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Bill Emerson and Sweet Dixie, and The South Carolina Broadcasters. We focused a bit on the Broadcasters because of their recent appearance at the Strawberry Park festival, and their upcoming appearance at the 2016 Podunk festival. Ivy Sheppard, David Sheppard, and Andy Edmonds make up the group that plays their own cross between old time and pre-bluegrass music with unique three-part harmonies more closely related to bluegrass. They are a rising force to be reckoned with having just signed with John Boy & Billy Records for their fifth album. Their new CD, also available on vinyl LP, is scheduled for release October 13th and can be pre-ordered here.
Other notable recent recordings on this show featured Ruben & Matt and the Truffle Valley Boys (from Italy!), The Earls of Leicester, Becky Buller, Larry Gillis, The Buckstankle Boys, and Amy Gallatin & Stillwaters.
Otherwise, this show was so full of Heritage Corner material that it would take too long to mention them all. We'll just refer you to the playlist, but single out Cecil Surratt, Carl Sauceman, and some very early Lilly Brothers & Don Stover.
We encourage you to attend the Spinney Brothers concert in Canterbury CT next Sunday that will open with Bear Minimum at 2:00pm. If you can't make it, we will have James & Cathy Ward filling in at Bluegrass Cafe.
