"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 9/11/2016

Our primary focus on Sunday afternoon was the music of the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe (September 13, 1911 - September 9, 1996).  In addition to playing 30 songs from the Monroe Songbook, we also opened the show opened with five of the many songs which have been written in tribute to Bill Monroe and his music.  It would be interesting to make a list of the many tribute songs that have been written about Monroe in the twenty years since his death, but that's another project for another day.

Bill Monroe wasn't the only birthday celebrant being honored this week.  We remembered two other performers who have September birthdays:  Paul Adkins (September 9, 1952) and Lou Reid (September 13, 1955).

Hope you enjoyed your lovely September Sunday, and we'll be looking for you again our Bluegrass Cafe next week at 4PM.

Have a good week!

Amy
