Matt Nozzolio, RIP

As you may have heard, the Connecticut and New England Bluegrass community lost a dear friend on Saturday. Matt Nozzolio (shown here performing on the Dobro with the Bristol Boys at the Buttery Brook Bluegrass Festival on July 19th) was a musician, period. He played his music -- be it the Dobro (in his words, "the easiest Bluegrass instrument to learn") or the accordion whenever and wherever he could. Matt toured Europe as a member of Amy Gallatin & Stillwaters in the 1990s, was an original member of the Charter Oak Bluegrass Band, and most recently, could be seen performing at Bluegrass festivals with the old-time country music trio, the Bristol Boys.

Cards of condolence can be sent to Matt's wife, Jean:

or you can post a note on Matt's MySpace page.

In short, Matt was a great guy, and he will be sorely missed.
