During Sunday's show, we played some tunes from CDs that will be available as premiums to those who call to support WHUS during the upcoming Radiothon campaign. We've had a lot of great response from many of the record labels from whom we requested CDs -- many thanks to them! We hope you'll be able to join all of us -- Jim, Marti, and me -- for the next two Sundays of Radiothon (April 6th & April 13th). This fundraising effort only happens one time a year at WHUS, and each year, the station expects/hopes/requests that we try to bring in more and more money. Will the Bluegrass programming be pulled from the air if we don't reach our goal? There's really not much danger of that, but we like a good challenge, and who wants to NOT be able to reach their goal? Later on this week, we'll post here a list of some of the goodies we'll be able to offer you for pledges during Radiothon. Please check back...
On Sunday, we also played a couple of tunes from the recently retired leader of the U.S. Navy Country Band, Country Current -- Wayne Taylor, as well as a new CD from two young brothers (ages 15 & 17) from Indiana who play the Traditional BG -- the Baker Boys.
One thing more: included after the playlist for Sunday's show is a playlist for an afternoon fill-in I got to do this past Wednesday, March 26th. We don't often get to play the BG like this in the middle of the week, but any opportunity to "spread the word" is always helpful, right? The tunes weren't exclusively BG, I'll admit, but 3/4 of them were.
