A few words about Fan Fest...

By now, we hope you're aware that IBMA is sponsoring a Sweepstakes in which Bluegrass Cafe listeners can enter to win an excellent prize package, including tickets to the IBMA Awards on September 28th and the Bluegrass Fan Fest being held from September 29th through October 1st in Nashville. A second post will tell you more about the 2006 IBMA Awards nominees, but read on here if you'd like to know more about Fan Fest. If you want to enter the contest -- and we hope you do -- see our blog entry from August 18th.

Bluegrass Fan Fest is just as it says -- a great big, indoor BG festival at the Nashville Convention Center. It is so much more than that, though, as this event is also the major yearly fundraiser for IBMA and the Bluegrass Music Trust Fund. The Trust Fund was established several years ago as a resource for people in the Bluegrass music family of professional musicians and others, and is available for them to draw upon in times of emergency. Bluegrass Fan Fest also funds various IBMA projects which promote Bluegrass music around the world. More than 40 of the most outstanding acts in Bluegrass are donating their time and talents to Fan Fest. On the IBMA website, you can find a complete schedule of who's performing at Fan Fest on the various stages. To see the list, click here.

For information on pricing and how to purchase tickets to Fan Fest, click here, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Tickets can be purchased through the IBMA website through September 8th only. After that date, tickets to Fan Fest will only be available at the gate on the day of the event. You may also call IBMA for information -- the call is toll free -- 1-888-GET-IBMA (or, 1-888-438-4262).

Whether you win the Sweepstakes or have to pay to get in, it should be one excellent festival. Get there if you can!

Amy
