"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 11/10/2024 -- revisiting 1/10/2021

Hey all -

If you're currently listening to our Bluegrass Cafe and wondering why things sound a bit "off," it's probably because we're doing some time travelling today -- rebroadcasting a program that first aired on Sunday, January 10, 2021.  The UConn Women's Basketball team is back in action today -- Sunday, November 10, 2024 -- and their game was scheduled to begin at 4:30PM.  Instead of dealing with a really awful parking situation on campus, I opted to stay home and listen to today's previously recorded show along with you all.  😁

Hope you enjoy our archived show today.  If you'd like to see the original playlist, check it out here:

https://bgcafe.blogspot.com/2021/01/bluegrass-cafe-playlist-1102021.html

Thanks for listening!  Please consider joining us LIVE in the studio one week from today.  We'll have lots of fine music AND a telephone visit with Amanda Cook, too.  See you then!

Enjoy the week!  And THANK YOU to all veterans, too!

Amy O.

Here's our original recap of this show you're hearing today:

Sunday's
Bluegrass Cafe included lots of music in celebration of birthdays, as well as a couple of newer tunes, and a whole bunch of blue ones, too.  Hope you were able to join us.

Birthday celebrating took up the main portion of our program this week, as we remembered prolific songwriter
Randall Hylton (January 8, 1945 - March 19, 2001) by sharing lots of his songs.  We also remembered Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price (January 12, 1926 - December 16, 2013) with music both performed by him and from his vast songbook.  And if that wasn't enough, we even remembered Elvis Presley (January 8, 1935 - August 16, 1977) just a tiny bit, too.

There was just a tiny bit of brand-new music to share this week, and it came to us from the likes of Sturgill SimpsonBilly Wise & Mountain Time, and Balsam Range.

We even played a bit of requested music this week, too.  If you have any requests, feel free to send me an email:  bgcafe@gmail.com.  I can't guarantee that I will be able to play whatever you request, as these "home-made" shows are limited by what music I have in my personal music library.  Still, there's always a possibility, and it's fun to hear from people.

Thanks for listening, stay healthy, and enjoy the week!

Amy O.

"Bluegrass Cafe" playlist - 11/3/2024

Our first Bluegrass Cafe for the month of November was also the first show where we returned to Standard Time for 2024.  No matter what time the clocks read, though, we filled three big hours with the best in Bluegrass music.

During a good portion of our show, we belatedly celebrated the 87th birthday of Country Music Hall of Famer,
Bill Anderson (born November 1, 1937).  Even though ol' Whisperin' Bill actually made a "Bluegrass record" a few years ago, it's more impressive to me how many Bill Anderson-penned songs have been recorded by Bluegrass performers over the years.  To celebrate his birthday, we shared nine excellent Bluegrass covers of Bill Anderson classics.

There were a couple of Bluegrass birthdays to remember, too, including those of newly-minted Bluegrass Hall of Famer, Alan Munde (born November 4, 1946), as well as two potential future Hall of Famers, Allen Mills (of the Lost & Found - born November 4, 1937) and Junior Sisk (born November 6, 1964).  Happy Birthday to all of them!

New music was part of the show, too, as we shared selections from Billy Strings, Big Country Bluegrass, Thomas Cassell, Carson Peters & Iron Mountain, and the Henhouse Prowlers.  There was also recent music from Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Greg Blake with Amanda Cook, and the "Bluegrass Sings Paxton" and "Blue-Collar Gospel" collections.

Thanks for listening to our Bluegrass Cafe this week!  Hope you'll join us on Sunday the 10th, too, as we'll have a little telephone chat with Amanda Cook, and lots more fine music to share.  See you then.

Have a good week!

Amy O.
